EVERY VOICE MATTERS
Behind every scholarship is a young woman rewriting her future. These stories come directly from the students we support — in their own words, through letters, reflections, photos, and videos.
Each voice represents resilience, ambition, and the power of education to transform not just one life, but entire communities.
Preeti Kulung Rai grew up in the remote Solukhumbu district of Nepal, in a large family of nine siblings where continuing education was often a challenge. Despite her determination to learn, financial difficulties made it hard for her to stay in school.
At the age of twelve, everything changed when she received a scholarship from the Empower Nepali Girls Organization. This support not only covered her educational needs but also gave her the confidence and opportunity to keep pursuing her dreams.
With the help of the program, Preeti continued her education and grew into a bright and inspiring young woman. Today, she is in her third year studying Microbiology at Xavier International College and works as a science teacher—giving back through education, just as she was once supported.
Preeti’s journey is a powerful reminder that when girls are given the opportunity to learn, they can transform their lives and uplift their communities. She now hopes to support other girls facing similar challenges and continue the cycle of empowerment.
At just five years old, Mingma is one of the youngest girls in our scholarship program, living in the remote Everest region of Nepal. Despite her age, her curiosity, bright smile, and eagerness to learn shine through in everything she does.
Her joy reminds us why education mattersbe cause every girl, no matter how young, deserves the chance to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
